The family and the story behind Nornore

The hosts of Casa Nornore

We are Trini and Joaquín, Chilean and Aragonese, and together with our two children we live in Piedrafita de Jaca, just a few metres from the house.

This house belonged to Joaquín’s family. We decided to transform it into a holiday home so that we could develop an activity in this small mountain village, where for me, Trini — an ophthalmologist and mother of two young children — it wasn’t easy to find work nearby, while Joaquín works in Formigal.

How Nornore began

We started the project in 2020 and finished it at the end of 2023.

For many years the house was no longer used as a home and became a stable and storage space. When we began the renovation, the interior was almost empty — a large open space where tools and machinery were stored. We decided to restore it while respecting its original structure and preserving some elements to always remember what it once was.

The decoration, lighting and the final wooden details were done as a family together with Joaquín’s father. We designed and made everything with great care so that guests feel in a cosy little house that we hope reflects that family spirit.

Three generations of carpenters building the ski storage.

Along the way we also became parents, which inspired us to create a special little house where children can take home a beautiful memory of their stay.

It makes us happy to prepare the house each time to welcome families who come to spend a few days in this beautiful corner of the Pyrenees.

Casa Nornore is a holiday home that also allows our family to live in a small mountain village with very few inhabitants. What makes it different — what gives it its soul — is that we clean and care for the house ourselves, paying close attention to every detail. We also take care of the maintenance: whenever something needs fixing, Joaquín and his father always find a way to sort it out.

We keep improving the house little by little, also listening to the suggestions of the families who spend a few days here. That way, when they return – or when a new family arrives – they always find a place that is even more carefully looked after and special.

Trini also takes care of the website and manages the direct bookings, so you will often be in touch with her directly before your arrival.
