From the front door of the house you can set out on iconic routes such as the Ibón de Piedrafita mountain lake and the Arco de Piedrafita, explore the magical Bosque del Betato, or venture into the mountains, including the impressive Peña Telera, whose summit reaches 2,764 metres.

 

From the village itself you can walk to the Lacuniacha Wildlife Park, where you can observe animals from the Pyrenees in their natural habitat, or visit the Pyrenees Labyrinth.
If you are looking for adventure, there are also guided activities such as canyoning in the Gorgol canyon or snowshoeing routes in winter.

In summer you can cool off in the natural pools of the Gorgol River, which can also be reached on foot, or explore the surroundings using the bicycles available at Casa Nornore.

For those who prefer more relaxed plans, there are horseback riding routes from the nearby village of Tramacastilla, as well as a tourist train that departs from the Piedrafita de Jaca car park and takes you up to the Ibón de Piedrafita.

Piedrafita also has an Interpretation Centre dedicated to the witchcraft traditions of the Tena Valley, open throughout the year.

During the mushroom season, the Piedrafita mushroom reserve allows you to go foraging among forests and mountain meadows.
At Casa Nornore we can lend you a basket, a mushroom knife and a small guide so you can enjoy the experience – just remember to obtain the required permit.

Skiing in the Tena Valley

Casa Nornore is located between two ski resorts:
Formigal-Panticosa, about 25 minutes by car, and the Panticosa Ski Resort, just 10 minutes away.

For a more family-friendly plan, when there is snow you can go sledding on our own fields.
And if there is no snow in Piedrafita, you can always head up to the Portalet mountain pass on the French border, where there is usually snow.
We will provide you with a sled.

More nature and adventure in the Tena Valley

The valley offers activities for all levels. Here are a few ideas for you:

In Panticosa (10 minutes away) you can walk along its famous mountain walkways, take the gondola lift in summer to reach mountain lakes and hiking routes, or ride down the slopes by mountain bike. The Panticosa Spa Resort also combines thermal waters with spectacular high-mountain scenery.

Sallent de Gállego (20 minutes away) is known for its historic old town and the impressive Salto de Sallent waterfall.

In Hoz de Jaca (5 minutes away) you will find viewpoints overlooking the Búbal reservoir, as well as its well-known zip line and giant swing.

Biescas, just 15 minutes away, is the gateway to the Tena Valley and offers a supermarket, pharmacy and all essential services.
It also has a zip-line park for children, next to a bar in the forest.

The valley also preserves a rich Romanesque heritage, such as the Route of the Serrablo Churches, and historic sites like Santa Elena (5 minutes away), with its dolmen and old bunkers.

There are also several via ferrata routes nearby (such as Santa Elena or two in Escarrilla).

Day Trips and Excursions from This Holiday Home

About 30 minutes away is Jaca, known for its impressive Citadel and its lively atmosphere throughout the year.

The Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park (access via Torla-Ordesa) is a must-visit day trip, around 45–60 minutes away.

Crossing into France via the Portalet Pass lets you discover the contrasting landscapes of the French Pyrenees.
There you can also take the Artouste Train, one of the highest tourist trains in Europe.

A little farther away, but ideal for a day trip, is the Monasterio de Piedra.
